Joan Brown—Humane League President/CEO

Joan Brown, Humane League President and CEOJoan Brown, MSW, spent her early career in human services starting at Family Service in Lancaster, and then serving as Director of the YWCA of York followed by the S. June Smith Center. In January of 2005 she came to the Humane League as Interim Director and became completely committed to its mission. In keeping with the rest of the staff, she houses a variety of pets at any given time, the current census being two spoiled dogs, one royal cat and a baby African tortoise. Aside from staffing this group of pets, Joan enjoys sailing on the Chesa­peake Bay and traveling.

Megan Gallagher—Vice Pres­ident of Devel­opment and Outreach

Megan Gallagher, Vice President of Development and Outreach

Megan Gallagher grad­uated with honors from Franklin & Marshal College and most recently obtained her M.A. in History from Millersville University. She has worked at the Humane League of Lancaster since 1998 when she started out as an animal care tech­nician. Megan is currently the care­giver to two dogs: Cooper, an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever Mix, and Lucy Ethel, a small terrier mix, and one Costco-sized kitty, Miss Chubbz, who rules over the household with a firm paw. When she is not caring for her critters, Megan enjoys hiking with her dogs and her son and running with friends.

Becki Meiss—Vice Pres­ident of Operations

Becki Meiss recently grad­uated from Eliz­a­bethtown College with a degree in Corporate Commu­ni­ca­tions. She has been with the HLLC for over seven years and was first employed with the orga­ni­zation as a kennel tech­nician.  Becki has two Himalayan cats at home, named Annie and Harrie, who were adopted from the HLLC. In her spare time, Becki enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, taking pictures, scrap­booking and reading.

Bryan Langlois—Humane League Veterinarian

Bryan Langlois, Humane League VetenerianBryan Lanlgois, DVM, has been involved in animal shel­tering for the past 15 years, during which time he has done every­thing from cleaning cages to managing staff. In 2005 he grad­uated from the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada and subse­quently joined the staff of the Humane League. Dr. Langlois currently resides in Lancaster with his three cats; Arty, Seger, and Rusty and a two year old Golden Retriever named Lewis. In his very limited spare time, Dr. Langlois can be found exploring local historical sites.

Lori Kelley—Foster Care Program Coordinator

Lori Kelley, Foster Care CoordinatorLori Kelley grad­uated from Wilson College with an Asso­ciate Degree in Veterinary Medical Tech­nology. She first worked for the Humane League in 1985 and 1986. Lori returned to the League in 2001 and has spent the last seven years serving as the Foster Care Program Coor­di­nator. Lori shares her home with Zita, a 6 year old pug rescued from a puppy mill, six cats, a chin­chilla named Bueller, and eight birds of various species. When she is not busy caring for her furry and feathered friends, she enjoys reading and going camping with her husband and two sons.

Mary Wallick—Director of Marketing

Mary Wallick is our resident Pit Bull aficionado! Not only does she share her home with three Pit Bulls (and one Persian cat), she also conducts special Pit Bull education and awareness outreach events for the community. Mary is a graduate of Millersville University and holds a Masters Degree in American History. She has a long history with the HLLC, most recently serving as a Foster Care Coor­di­nator for our Foster to Home Program. In her spare time, Mary enjoys visiting historical sites and reading.

Danielle Ball—Director of Humane Law Enforcement

Danielle Ball, Director of Humane Law EnforcementDanielle has been a dedi­cated employee at the HLLC for over ten years.  Not only has she most recently served as Director of Oper­a­tions, she is also an animal cruelty officer who has taken on the massive task of working full-time for the League to respond to reports of animal neglect and cruelty.  Danielle enjoys providing foster care to unweaned puppies and has perma­nently adopted several special needs dogs. Her all time favorite movie is the Wizard of Oz.
