The Humane League of Lancaster County is an independent, non-profit organization that is recognized as the area's leader in animal welfare. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide compassion and care to nearly 11,000 animals each year through a variety of services. Our unique foster care program allows to us save even more lives while our partnerships with other rescues and shelters help us place an ever increasing number of animals in permanent and loving homes. We value our volunteers, members, and supporters as important contributors to the work that we do. Through working together, we can achieve our vision of creating a humane community where all animals are protected and wanted.

The Humane League of Lancaster County is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization supported entirely by private donations and proceeds from its fundraising efforts. Your donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Gifts made to the Humane League represent a gift to the entire organization, and to help the organization serve as many animals in need as possible the HLLC does not use its limited resources to track gifts from donation to distribution. We use your gift where it can do the most good by combining with the gifts of others to most effectively achieve our mission.

Donating "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of"

Making a donation to the Humane League is a unique and meaningful way of honoring or remembering a loved on, whether it be a human or animal. When you make a donation we will send a card to a recipient of your choice, including your personal message.

Humane League of Lancaster Achieves Four Star Charity Status

The Humane League of Lancaster has recently been recognized as a Four Star Charity by Charity Navigator, America's largest and most utilized independent evaluator of charities. As part of a yearly review, Charity Navigator examined the Humane League's finances and determined that the organization should be awarded the highest, four star rating due to the shelter’s ability to “efficiently manage and grow” its’ finances. According to a letter which the League received from Charity Navigator, "...the Humane League of Lancaster County executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America. This "exceptional" designation from Charity navigator differentiates the Humane League of Lancaster County from its peers and demonstrates to the public its worthy of their trust." Humane League President, Joan Brown, states, “It's extremely important to us to be the most responsible stewards we can be on behalf of our animals.” The Humane League of Lancaster County is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization supported almost entirely by private donations and proceeds from its fundraising efforts.
