Vet­eri­nary Receptionist

The Humane League of Lan­caster County is seek­ing a recep­tion­ist with excel­lent writ­ten and ver­bal com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills to join the expand­ing vet­eri­nary prac­tice of our award-winning ani­mal wel­fare orga­ni­za­tion. Appli­cants must enjoy work­ing inde­pen­dently, have a friendly per­son­al­ity, and supe­rior cus­tomer ser­vice skills. Week­end and evening avail­abil­ity a must.

Required Expe­ri­ence:

  • 1 year work­ing in a vet­eri­nary hos­pi­tal envi­ron­ment a must, 1 year recep­tion expe­ri­ence preferred.

Appli­cants must be pro­fi­cient in:

  • Med­ical record keeping
  • Client communication/ edu­ca­tion in ani­mal care
  • Mul­ti­task­ing in a fast pace work environment
  • Fill­ing
  • Sched­ul­ing appointments
  • Han­dling finan­cial transactions
  • Work­ing with computers

We are cur­rently accept­ing appli­ca­tions for employ­ment in our Cus­tomer Service Department

This posi­tion will aver­age 32.5 hours/week and will include health ben­e­fits but not paid time off. Hours will be 10:30am-5pm, five days a week and will include Sat­ur­days and Sun­days. The start­ing rate is $10.10/hr.

This posi­tion is pri­mar­ily respon­si­ble for pro­vid­ing the pub­lic with infor­ma­tion about the Humane League, pre­lim­i­nary screen­ing of ani­mals for intake, sched­ul­ing intake appoint­ments, mak­ing matches between adopt­able ani­mals and poten­tial adopters and pro­cess­ing adop­tions. Supe­rior cus­tomer ser­vice skills are required. Enthu­si­asm, friend­li­ness, and com­pas­sion for humans and ani­mals are a must! Addi­tional duties related to ani­mal care should be expected.

Posi­tion Requirements:

Edu­ca­tion, Train­ing, or Cer­ti­fi­ca­tion: High school diploma or GED plus at least one year expe­ri­ence in a fast paced cus­tomer ser­vice envi­ron­ment han­dling a vari­ety of client needs. Pre­vi­ous expe­ri­ence with ani­mal care strongly pre­ferred. Valid PA driver’s license required.

Expe­ri­ence and Skills:

  • Effec­tive ver­bal com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills for in per­son, tele­phone and e-mail contact
  • Excel­lent cus­tomer ser­vice skills, par­tic­u­larly with a vari­ety of client situations
  • Able to pri­or­i­tize duties and per­form mul­ti­ple tasks
  • Able to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Inter­me­di­ate com­puter skills
  • Abil­ity to learn, retain and com­mu­ni­cate a wide vari­ety of infor­ma­tion; Detail orientated
  • Able to han­dle a vari­ety of domes­tic ani­mals humanely and safely.
