Upon becom­ing a mem­ber, you will receive a 2014 HLLC mem­ber­ship card that you can present to our Mem­ber­ship Dis­count Spon­sors to receive your dis­count. Com­ing to the aid of pets in cri­sis is a core part of our mis­sion. Princess, her four pup­pies, and Chaquita have been for­tu­nate enough to expe­ri­ence first­hand the com­pas­sion and care made pos­si­ble only by our mem­bers’ sup­port. Because of our mem­bers, we have been res­cu­ing, shel­ter­ing and plac­ing ani­mals in per­ma­nent homes for almost one hun­dred years.

Princess, her four pup­pies, and Chaquita are real life exam­ples of how your mem­ber­ship directly saves lives. Peo­ple talk a lot about mak­ing a dif­fer­ence. Princess & Puppies

Princess and her four pup­pies were brought to the HLLC, because they were being neglected by their pre­vi­ous owner. Even though Princess was ter­ri­fied when she arrived at the shel­ter, she set­tled quickly into a fos­ter home. She lov­ingly cared for her pup­pies, and when they were old enough all four pup­pies were adopted into for­ever fam­i­lies! As for Princess, she was adopted by her fos­ter family!

Chaquita

Beau­ti­ful Chaquita arrived at the HLLC with an injured front leg. It was deter­mined by the vet­eri­nar­ian staff that she would need to have her front leg ampu­tated. Thank­fully the surgery went well and Chaquita made a quick recov­ery. This sweet tem­pered cat stayed at the HLLC until she was com­pletely recov­ered from her surgery, she was then trans­ferred to another local life sav­ing orga­ni­za­tion where she is wait­ing for the per­fect for­ever family!
